What are the first and the last countries in the world to enter the new year?

The New Year is the most anticipated holiday in several countries. The date marks the renewal of faith, hope, love and determination. This is a magical and special moment, in which people have the chance to make new resolutions and goals. Although considered day of universal brotherhood, the new year comes at different times for some countries. Some nations celebrate the New Year first, and others have to wait to celebrate the date, all because of the time zones. 

In general, the first celebrating the new year is Antarctica. Another area where the new year arrives faster is the easternmost island of Kiribati, also known as Carolina Island, located in Oceania. Then the list of countries to first celebrate the turn of the year, we Samoa, a country near French Polynesia.


The new year comes quickly to these regions because they are geographically located in areas with zones earliest times . Moving from one year to the next takes place the first call on International Date Line (LID ) , which is in the Pacific Ocean west of Hawaii. In contrast, Honolulu , Hawaii, is the last region of the world to commemorate the date .


And if countries are different when entering the new year, they also differ in the types of celebration. In Brazil, the traditions are jumping waves, eat lentils and wear white clothes. In China , people offer food to gods . In Japan, the cleaning ceremony takes place in homes. In France , people sipping champagne . In the United States , people face the bitter cold of winter and go to Time Square in New York , to accompany the countdown.
