TUVALU MAY BE ABOUT TO MAP disappear

24/12/2015

One of the smallest countries in the world , and perhaps one of the nicest , can be extinguished map. To prevent the territory disappear underwater, the government filed a request for help in the EU. Enele Sopoaga , Prime Minister of the country was personally at the headquarters in Brussels for support that helps .

With 26 km2 , Tuvalu is part of a small Polynesian island , and has only 10,000 inhabitants. The highest point of the country is two meters above sea level , and because of global warming is the country with extreme risk that in a few years the short country literally map.

With increasing temperature on the earth , the melting of poles increases, and consequently also the ocean volume , thereby to increase its sea level. And an increase of 2 degrees Celsius in the average temperature ever would cause Tuvalu map short .

NASA shows evidence of the existence of liquid water on Mars and current

14/12/2015

Mars is a planet that does not go out of focus of science, researchers and scientists from NASA. And this is due to the mysteries that the reddish region hides and even controversies that have been discovered there. Baptized water wires " recurring slope lines," NASA said it had discovered liquid salt water on the slopes of some mountains on Mars. Second images of a spacecraft in orbit under the red planet, the MRO ( Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter ) , beds of about 100 meters long and less than 5 meters wide were found on the red planet . According to the head of the Mars exploration program at NASA , Michael Meyer , these lines " are dark bands that form in late spring , grow in summer and disappear in the fall ."

These lines were old friends of the American space agency, but were not confirmed because of the poor quality in the resolution of the images. As shown in the pictures in high resolution, stretch marks appear next to Hale crater slopes during the period of hot weather and if stretch , then immediately disappear during the colder seasons . In an interview with the journal Nature Geoscience , Lujendra Ojha , of the Georgia Institute of Technology , said "Whether there is liquid water on the Martian surface is central to understanding the water cycle and the potential for the existence of life on Mars "

NASA says the next step is to work in partnership with Russia and send another probe to investigate the interior of the red planet. The forecast is sending probe in 2016 and already in 2018 send another probe to analyze the organic matter. Two years later, a mission will be to collect samples of what is hidden beneath the surface and there is the possibility of sending astronauts to Mars.

Hayabusa 2 captures stunning image of Earth and the Moon

14/12/2015
If you ever wondered how the Earth and Moon can be a little distance ? Further noting here on Earth, but the average distance of the Earth to the Moon is 384,403 km on . It seems close, but a new photo clearly shows how the distance is too great. The record , made by the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency with Hayabusa 2 , managed to capture the two bodies into a single image .

Recently registered on 26 November, the image was recorded by optical telephoto navigation camera ( ONC -T) , and shows more of the Earth's eastern hemisphere , and details how the moon is orbiting as if suspended by a huge rope heavenly. Hayabusa 2 was launched on December 3, 2014 , and is currently carrying out an Earth swing before heading out to an asteroid called Ryugu , which will collect samples that the researchers hope to provide clues about the "origin and evolution " of the solar system.

Check out the picture of the Hayabusa 2
About Ryugu Ryugu is a C-type asteroid, so named because of the large amounts of carbon-containing molecules. Other types include asteroids are predominantly rocky. Ryugu is considered important for researchers, since it is home to organic minerals and hydrated - which means that contain water, and are seen as one that may contain clues about the origins of life on Earth, as well as the structure and the formation of first components of the solar system.

Yasuhiko Takagi - who has been working on the project said, "minerals and seawater that form the Earth as well as materials for life are believed to be strongly connected in a primitive solar nebula in the early solar system. Hopefully clarify the origin of life by analyzing samples acquired a primordial celestial body ". Name Selection Asteroid 1999 JU3 / Target Asteroid Explorer "Hayabusa2" The asteroid 1999 JU3, Target Asteroid Explorer "Hayabusa2", was named "Ryugu". The Agency of Japan Aerospace Exploration (JAXA) carried out a campaign of appointment between July 22 and August 31, 2015. The result of careful study of the names proposed by the jury was Ryugu; In the Japanese ancient history "Urashima Taro", the main character, Urashima Taro, brought back a Dragon Palace coffin, or Ryugu Castle.

The Hayabusa2 will also bring back a capsule with samples, so the theme of "bringing back a treasure" is common, getting the name of Ryugu.

Our sun can release solar flares thousand times more than normal

14/12/2015
New research suggests our sun , has the ability to produce bursts of energy and radiation 1,000 times more powerful than regular solar flares . If true, this has implications for how we would protect us from potentially catastrophic solar storms .

The study, to be published in Astrophysical Journal Letters , was led by scientists at the University of Warwick. They looked at a distant binary star called KIC 9655129 in the Milky Way , which is known to have solar flares .

These massive explosions were first found in the 1970s , it was thought by produced by a process of regular solar flares . However , research shows that the physics of solar flares of KIC 9655129 , is noticeably almost periodic , appearing constantly on the Kepler space telescope , and are similar to eruptions in lower expression of our sun .

And the study shows that for almost the same structure of both , it would be possible to take place in our sun. But Pugh , who led the research, said that the chances of this happening soon was " incredibly unlikely " , although it is possible every 600 years , according to other research.

And there is evidence for the producers of solar flares from our sun in the past. "Looking at the Arctic ice cores , scientists have found certain " bombing " of radiation, suggesting that this is due to a large solar flare in 700 AD and 900 AD ," said Pugh . " It was not too long ago ."

Understand the risks of solar flares

A solar flare pointed toward Earth can cause damage to satellites and even astronauts in orbit, with an energy equivalent to a pump 100 million megatons . We have a variety of space weather prediction centers around the world to help mitigate the effects , such as shutting down satellites, but if a storm is powerful enough , then the radiation may be too much even for the most resistant to it.

Solar explosions seem to be like a sunspot . In some stars that can cover almost 50 percent of the star's surface. In the sun , according to Pugh , it might be one-eighth of a quarter of its surface , although this is a very high estimate. These active regions may persist for days , releasing several solar flares , seemingly at random , but within that timescale . Then there would be some indication when it may be about to occur , and we could do our best to reduce its effects if it was pointed at us .

Scientists solve puzzle of lights Alien megastructure

14/12/2015
In recent weeks, researchers around the world were literally lost with a mysterious light from a star, located in the depths of the universe. That has taken the internet and became known as the alien Megastructure. However, it was not what we thought.

The SETI Institute (Institute for extraterrestrial intelligence that seeks) recorded in the solar system KIC 8462852 interference in reading the reports they receive. In order to understand more about the reports received, the lizes waves is uniform and constant, if we were using a line she would be continuous and infinite, but in a few days, which was a continuous line began exhibiting "failures" and negative peaks, which represents interference.

Intrigued by the records of KIC 8462852 system, and using data from NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope, could then solve the mystery, finding evidence that interference were carried out by a swarm of comets. The study, led by Massimo Marengo of Iowa State University, Ames, was accepted for publication in Astrophysical Journal Letters. However, according to Marengo, more observations are needed to help solve the case of KIC 8462852. "This is a very strange star and we will keep an eye," he said.

Understand how the readings of the lights are made ;
KIC 8462852 , located 1480 years light away , was monitored by the Kepler Space Telescope for over four years starting in 2009. And as a planet or comet passing in front of the light from a star , makes the light dim and back , like a beacon , and Kepler can captured these inconsistencies .

Researchers recorded the birth of a planet

13/12/2015
Scientists have witnessed a wonderful phenomenon in space : for the first time ever are registering the birth of a planet. The new planet , which was formed around the young star LkCa 15 , is about 450 light years from Earth . This finding confirms and illustrates how the planet can grow 14 times more , attracting stellar rocks and dust , as well as with our planet and also forming our moon. "It's the first time we've captured the image of a planet still in training, is a rare phenomenon , hard to find ," said Stephanie Sallum , one of the research leaders. All this occurred through the LBT ( Large Binocular Telescope ) , and you can see the the formation of the new planet.

This discovery is the result of two different designs for mounting on video. Thus, in an image taken by the telescope LBT (Large Binocular Telescope in English), you can clearly see the area between dust where colorful objects and then an animation of how the estreça system LkCa 15 .
